A caveat- Amazon rankings are of course incredibly unreliable and should not in any way be relied upon. That said, I think they can show trends that later bear themselves out when we get actual software numbers.

- As in real life, NSMB Wii keep trading spots at the top with each going in and out of stock

-Friend Collection has been near the top, currently at #3 since the holiday season started

-Hardware wise, PS3 has been lodged at #4 while Wii is at 37 and #10

-Wii software in general is rising. Wii Fit Plus bundle is at #6, Wii Sports Resort is at #8, the Pikachu Adventure game is at #13, and most surprisingly the Taiko Wii bundle is at #14. For perspective, when that software launched a month ago it never got higher than the mid-30's.

- NSMB Wii is at #20

- Other games hanging around the top 25- PSP2 at #19, Layton at #12, Momorotou at #29, Gundam V at #31 and Graces at #25

- SW3 is at #45

- You can detect an increase in Wii awareness by old games suddenly rising into the top 100. Mario Kart Wii is at #37, Wii Sports is at #53, and Smash Bros. Brawl is at #65.

- Finally, Monster Hunter Tri standalone, marked down to 3100 yen, over half off, makes it back to the top 100 at #91.

NSMB Wii Comgnet Weekly Order comparisons

44% of DQ 9, which would equal 1.049 million (69% of total orders were preorders, in comparison, NSMB Wii had 57% as preorders)

78% of Pokemon, which would equal 1.099 million

Its hard to remember what Monster Hunter had, but I believe it was around 1200. If that is true, NSMB Wii did 1.569 for 914K

Wii Fit Plus had an impressive week- 282 orders for the standalone, 32 for the bundle, so 314 total.

-Really low second week for Tri. Wonder if Famitsu overestimated last week and is now correcting itself. If that is the case, Media Create numbers should be better.

Comgnet Weekly Review- 8/9

SD Gundam received 750 orders for the PS2 version, 58 for the Wii version

Tales of VS. followed with 573 orders.

Monster Hunter Tri received 162 orders for the standalone, 74 for the white Pro pack and 62 for the black Pro pack for a total of 298 orders. It looks to me like the CC Pro packs are supply constrained.

Monster Hunter Tri Sales In-Depth

- 54.36% overall sell through rate (which would put the overall shipment according to MC at less than 1 million...maybe that helps to explain the disparity?)

- Classic Pro bundles had a sell through rate of 70%, the standalone less than 40%

-The Pro bundles outsold the standalone 2 to 1.

-The black Wii sold 45k, the Tri bundle sold 20K.


We might have an odd situation where there are new shipments on the Pro bundle and the standalone starts getting price reductions.

Monster Hunter Tri sells 583,000 copies in two days!

Very very solid start- almost 60% of the initial shipment sold in only 2 days. I think it is a near lock to break a million, but the next few weeks will tell the story as to what type of legs it has.

Wii hardware moved 93K according to Famitsu, which is honestly less than I expected- perhaps the Wii userbase is already interested in this type of game?

Monster Hunter Tri Predictions

Well, Tri is coming out just about right now.

Let's predict its 1st week and LTD.

Indicators:

Amazon- At the top of the Amazon charts. Obviously

Comgnet- Ended up with 980 pre-orders. That is almost 4 times as much as Monster Hunter G.

Common sense- Huge. Over a million initial shipment. Massive advertising.

I'm going to go big and predict 650K in its 1st 2 days. LTD I'll go with 1.4 million.

For the Wii, I'll go with 150K.

Let's see if I'm right!
