Short story- Wii games get a bump. NSMB Wii actually went up from last week. FF13 did 79% of its total orders from the preorders, which would be in line with FFX and FF12 first day/first week ratio's.

Amazon Japan Spot check- 12/19

A caveat- Amazon rankings are of course incredibly unreliable and should not in any way be relied upon. That said, I think they can show trends that later bear themselves out when we get actual software numbers.

- As in real life, NSMB Wii keep trading spots at the top with each going in and out of stock

-Friend Collection has been near the top, currently at #3 since the holiday season started

-Hardware wise, PS3 has been lodged at #4 while Wii is at 37 and #10

-Wii software in general is rising. Wii Fit Plus bundle is at #6, Wii Sports Resort is at #8, the Pikachu Adventure game is at #13, and most surprisingly the Taiko Wii bundle is at #14. For perspective, when that software launched a month ago it never got higher than the mid-30's.

- NSMB Wii is at #20

- Other games hanging around the top 25- PSP2 at #19, Layton at #12, Momorotou at #29, Gundam V at #31 and Graces at #25

- SW3 is at #45

- You can detect an increase in Wii awareness by old games suddenly rising into the top 100. Mario Kart Wii is at #37, Wii Sports is at #53, and Smash Bros. Brawl is at #65.

- Finally, Monster Hunter Tri standalone, marked down to 3100 yen, over half off, makes it back to the top 100 at #91.

Comgnet Update- 10/4

The winner was Inazuma 11 2 with 364 orders between the 2 SKU's.

Wii Fit Plus had an impressive week- 282 orders for the standalone, 32 for the bundle, so 314 total.

Grand Turismo PSP followed with 278 orders.

Wii Sports Resort had 32 orders and Monster Hunter Tri did not make the list.


For an update on preorders, FF13 is at 534, while SRW Neo is at 30.

Wii Fit Plus with 67 preorders (for the separate SKU).


Getting back to orders for the week ending 9/27, Friends Collection had another 182 orders. Tales of Vesperia had 130, and Monster Hunter Tri had 32.

Monster Hunter Tri Predictions

Well, Tri is coming out just about right now.

Let's predict its 1st week and LTD.

Indicators:

Amazon- At the top of the Amazon charts. Obviously

Comgnet- Ended up with 980 pre-orders. That is almost 4 times as much as Monster Hunter G.

Common sense- Huge. Over a million initial shipment. Massive advertising.

I'm going to go big and predict 650K in its 1st 2 days. LTD I'll go with 1.4 million.

For the Wii, I'll go with 150K.

Let's see if I'm right!

Wii Fit plus release date and more

From Anoop, it looks like Wii Fit plus will hit 10/1. Forever Blue 2 comes two weeks earlier, 9/17.

Nintendo may be in a decent position to maintain whatever bump Monster Hunter Tri gives- Wii Fit Plus will come exactly 2 months after Tri, which isn't that long of a wait. Expect New Super Mario Bros. Wii to come in November, and maybe another big title in December (WuHu Island, the name of the Wii Sports Resort Island which was recently trademarked by Nintendo??).
